The survey provides support for the future implementation of the Network Code on Electricity Balancing (NC EB) and highlights the challenges facing the pan-European harmonisation of electricity balancing market design. The survey information is used to monitor the implementation of the NC EB and to report on the development towards a European balancing market. The survey includes maps illustrating how different approaches have been taken to the design elements of Ancillary Services and Imbalance Charges across Europe
