Position on the review of the Renewable Energy...
In line with the objectives of the Guidelines on State aid for environmental protection and energy 2014-2020, ENTSO-E believes that the RED should be reviewed with the purpose to:
-
expose all ‘mature’ renewable energy sources (RES) technologies, such as wind and solar, to price signals and thus integrate RES into the market framework;
-
ensure that RES, have the same balancing responsibilities as all other market participants;
-
phase-out mandatory priority dispatch for RES;
-
reduce unwanted effects on the market such as negative prices;
-
should support for selected RES technologies in future still be needed, such support should be market-based (such as tendering, auctions, premiums)
-
improve the contribution of RES to system security through the provision of accurate feed-in forecasts and real-time data
