The internal energy market and the energy transition require more regional coordination of transmission system operators (TSOs). In November 2014, ENTSO-E published its position paper on the future TSO coordination. This was complemented by its vision paper on regions released in September 2015. This led to a multilateral agreement on regional security coordination service providers being signed in December 2015 with 36 interconnected TSOs.
